Hoax Or Real? Car Seat Law Post for Short Adults Spreads in North Dakota

Are you under 5 feet, 5 inches and/or under 120 pounds? If so, you might want to hear about this car seat law that's circulating online.

For those of us short, but totally capable and tall-in-spirit individuals, you might have been taken aback by recent posts and memes online, claiming a new law was introduced that would force people under 5 feet 5 inches to sit in a car seat when traveling in cars.

Look, it's not like short folks (myself included) haven't earned some skepticism here. We get carded at movie theaters. We get side-eyed near "you must be this tall" signs. We've accepted that reaching items on the top shelf must forever be a group project. We're used to the never-ending obstacles and restrictions. But this? It can't be true, can it?

Is The New Height & Weight Car Seat Rule Real?

According to multiple sources, all across the country, because yes, it got that far out of hand, it is not true. Adults under 5' foot 5" will not be required to ride in a car seat under a new law. No new or proposed law requires short adults to ride in car seats.

While I was completely prepared to make my fiancé drive me around everywhere, as I'd be restricted to car seat riding only, we're both relieved that our lives will not be affected by this 'new law'. You may sit in your normal seat, and breathe easy... for now.
